Seijin Shiki plans full steam ahead!
Sometimes miracles do happen...

Busy busy busy week (project presentation, anatomy CA and HEAL essay) meant that i had to push myself a little. Got things done, but late nights and caffeine highs take a toll on the body. And no, I don't get sick...but the pituitary gland unleashed a full blast of oxytocin at the start of this month's cycle, which left me incapacitated enough to decide to give Nursing Labs this week a miss. Held out through a haze of pain and panadol long enough to do the Anatomy test though. PIP project left a mountain of undone assignments in its wake, and will be tackling the craggy slope over the weekend. Had a great time with my group, with our rehearsals at the auditorium becoming more like a K-box session...i was rapping random ahli fiqir songs (malay hip-hop) and a french lullaby cos my group mates challenged me to sing something they didn't understand. Topped it off with Shiki no Uta and a dikir barat song...full-scale assault on everyone's  tympanic membranes. Well, i wasn't the only culprit, everyone was hogging the mike to belt out renditions of mandarin oldies (sang back up for wo yao ni de ai...), more current mandarin songs and cantonese drama theme songs. Bleargh. Pandemonium.

I did promise myself a shopping trip when the B-cube week was over, so I did a round of Kinokuniya (flipped through a super advanced kimono sewing book...didn't buy cos i STILL haven't figured out the whole of kodomo no kimono, sorely tempted by crochet pattern books but not willing to pay for stuff i can get from NLB), Arab street (needed some rhinestones to replace the bits that fell off some pieces of my mom's costume jewellery, and of course, for kimono lurve) and Takashimaya (before Christmas stock-clearance...bought a GAP shirt for $15).

So far a very normal week, until I found this:

Fwaaahhhh!!!! A furisodeeeeeee~wheeeeeeee~~~~~Matsu (pine) on rinzu silk. Wrinkled, patina-ed, and stained, but a furisode is a furisode. The yellow is much brighter than in the pic, but got washed out as I had to use flash...it's evening. Will try to freshen it up or send it for dry-cleaning during the hols. More importantly, I got an outfit ostentatious enough for a Seijin Shiki (ok, it's just a 20th birthday) next year.

Got one fukuro obi in a sort of pale gold...the bamboo and plum on it will make the whole ensemble rather shou-chiku-bai (three friends of winter motif, i.e. pine, bamboo and plum blossom; i seem to have a lot of pieces that were meant for winter) but will having too many yellow tones be pushing it? Not to mention the only furisode obijime I have is yellow too...
