This being my 21st birthday, I seem to have received a few interesting gifts.

First of all...

Spirited Away artbook from 2S03C friends! The best part of the book is the concept art for the movie, which takes the form of water colour sketches. I was so inspired I decided to drag out my whole water colour kit and kaboodle (used to do a lot when i was younger) and do a few sketches myself.
 

Pardon the nihilistic overtones...these were meant to be concept art for a poster promoting a euthanasia presentation....
Secondly, not one but two polyester kimono bolts O_o. A meccha kawaii pink ro with paulownia leaves and stripey retro-ish modern bolt.

I don't have anything young-ish and fun yet, seems like my taste so far is rather jimi (old for your age), so this one ought to please kahouya customers...


And this one will make ME happy XD. Go-San-Kiri in pastel colours. I think I could wear this under my blue ro AKA birthday present to myself kimono that I just sewed over the holiday.

 

Mentioned only a few here, but I wish to extend my thanks to everyone who gave me a gift (and birthday wishes too!) for my 21st :D.

Oh, by the way, how did you pre-tie the obi that day? *very curious* You learnt it off the internet, or improvised the pre-tying on your own?

No kurotomesode just wear something *dark and dangerous* also can :P

Re: the obi, I think there's this obi aid thing known as a biyosugata? I wanted one, but no money now also~ so I made a substitute out of a plastic board (A4 size notebook cover folded into half), cut a series of holes in its edges so that I could attach himo to it in roughly the same places as the biyosugata, and used it to tie the fukura suzume knot. The tying part I learnt off the net...since this is the most basic musubi for furisode, instructions can be found quite easily. Since the plastic board didn't have a clip to attach the obi to the part that goes around the waist, I improvised this and came up with the method I used last Saturday. Worked pretty well I guess. I'll post some pics up in the next entry, 'kay.
