This being my 21st birthday, I seem to have received a few interesting gifts.
First of all...
Secondly, not one but two polyester kimono bolts O_o. A meccha kawaii pink ro with paulownia leaves and stripey retro-ish modern bolt.
Mentioned only a few here, but I wish to extend my thanks to everyone who gave me a gift (and birthday wishes too!) for my 21st :D.</div>

Spirited Away artbook from 2S03C friends! The best part of the book is the concept art for the movie, which takes the form of water colour sketches. I was so inspired I decided to drag out my whole water colour kit and kaboodle (used to do a lot when i was younger) and do a few sketches myself.

Close ups of the design:
I don't have anything young-ish and fun yet, seems like my taste so far is rather jimi (old for your age), so this one ought to please kahouya customers...
And this one will make ME happy XD. Go-San-Kiri in pastel colours. I think I could wear this under my blue ro AKA birthday present to myself kimono that I just sewed over the holiday.

Sort of to reward myself for staying up late to do my notes I did some crochet...experimented with beads this time. I had a whole bunch of 2mm (my eyes *_*) blue seed beads through which nothing but nylon fishing line could be threaded, so on went the beads on the fishing line and I crocheted this flower pendant.

Same five-petaled flower I use in my purse projects, but this time the nylon gave it a very glassy look. Oh wells, now the thick necklace string has found a bauble to display ^_^.
And back to Healthcare Ethics and Law for me...

Went down to Maki Squarepatch again on Saturday for the second craft swap with Chen Yan. This time I contributed crochet flowers and edgings, some pale purple satin ribbon and vintage buttons...only two crochet pieces were left by the time we had to go ^_^ I'm glad they were useful, because I helped myself to other people's high-class rubbish (as how Chen Yan puts it) like a Singaporean at a buffet table. My stash at the end of it all:

~ Alphabet beads
~ Glass beads in round, lampwork, square and butterfly-shaped (addiction to beads goes back a long way...had a beading craze somewhere in my primary school days but never had enough cash for materials...i don't really bead now but glass beads are irresistable, especially when they are free)
~ Purple buttons (woot! these are perfect for my button flower purses)
~ Jewellery findings (pin backings for my mum's headscarf brooches, thin wire for bead sculpture, thick necklace string)
~ three almost full balls of crochet cotton...which will satiate my need for pattern experiments in the coming holidays.
I reckon I've built up enough critical (material) mass to relaunch my crochet crafts project during the hols...will try to work glass beads into my crochet purses and handphone pouches (or sock, as Brigitte puts it). Yups, and
lunelumiere I will work on your suggestion to add handles to the pouches...
Might try some peranakan traditional shoe beading as well, now that I'm swimming in glass goodies.
On a side note, picked up a NANA (anime) CD after the swap...never watched any of Nana (movie or otherwise) but after the Kamikaze Girls and Sakuran movies this year I'm feeling quite partial to anything by Anna Tsuchiya.

Felt a sudden urge to pick up my colourpencils again since a community on devart that i'm part of announced a Spring Kimono design competition. So urm...I drew this...thing. This one is an uchikake titled Botan no Kujaku (rather unimaginatively - Peacocks of the Peony). Had a lot of weird ideas when thinking of the title, but picked one that was safe. Any other ideas welcome...
- Mood:
cheerful
